CROCHET PATTERN - IRISH CROCHET LEAF MOTIF PATTERN

STEM

Start with the stem. Make an I cord. In this pattern I made Romanian I cord.

LEAF

CIRCULAR PART

Make a cricle with chain 5, and do 13-15 DCs. Do not join the first and last DC.

Make ch 3, and do 2 SC. This will make the puff at the beginning of row. Throughout this pattern, every row will start with a puff using ch 3, and 2 SCs.

Do SC throughout the row. Do increases at atlest 3 points of the row to maintain the curve.

FLATTENING

After a few rows, start flattening the leaf. For this, do 2-3 HDC, 3-5 DC and 2-3 HDC in the beginning and end of row. Do SCs in the center of the row. This pattern is to be followed only while working on the right side.

While working on the wrong side, do SCs only (no HDC or DC). When SCs are made on the back loop of wrong side, they protrude out on the right side. This makes the pattern look even on the right side, whereas it may look uneven on the wrong side due to HDCs and DCs.

CONE

Once the leaf looks flat, start decreasing at the end of rows by skipping 2 to 3 stitches in the end. This will give the leaf a conical shape.

TOP

At the top end, make a puff and slip in the wrong side.
